Product Description

Basic Function

The evaporator coil contains cold, low-pressure refrigerant.

As warm air from the room or environment passes over the coil (often moved by a fan), the heat is absorbed by the refrigerant.

This causes the refrigerant to evaporate (turn into gas) — hence the name "evaporator."

Where It's Used

Refrigerators and freezers – keeps compartments cold

Air conditioners (AC) – cools room air

Heat pumps – during cooling mode

Industrial cooling systems – in cold storage, food processing, etc.

Main Components

Evaporator coil – tubing (usually copper or aluminum) that carries the refrigerant

Fan/blower – circulates air over the coil

Expansion device (e.g., TXV or capillary tube) – controls refrigerant flow into the evaporator

Drain pan – collects moisture that condenses on the coil
